Chair’s note

Open D first, then A. D is the only page a cold expat understands in five seconds and can act on without scrolling; A is the only page where they use the product before reading. Neither ships today: D clips three captures and leaks 'usually within 15 minutes' and 'Al Noor Legal Advocates' from case-live.png (that firm name is baked into the real screenshots and appears in five of six variants; decide now whether it may be public). F is the most beautiful and the worst converter; judge it from the stage shots, not the full-page PNG. E and F share a headline, so one of them failed the brief. Every variant has a fake 'Coming soon' button above the fold and href="#" footer links.

Remix suggestion

Hero: D's copy stack ('Three seconds. Then you're not alone.' + the one-sentence 'ELA is a membership for UAE residents…' lede + inline email capture + 'Coming soon' as plain text) on the left, with A's live hold ring (3.0s hold, countdown, slider, receipt cascade) in the right column instead of empty space; on mobile, lede + capture first, demo below with touch-action pan-y. Membership: F's three-tier section (clearest in the set), with the approved Shield insurance sentence verbatim and Shield centred as in A. Product moment: keep A's hold demo as the signature; take D's dark 'Phone locked, dead, or taken. It still runs.' tile with active-case-dark.png as the single contained dark panel for the fail-safe beat, and D's animated firm/consulate/family chain for the how-it-works timeline (nodes at full opacity). Unify every example clock to 02:11:xx. Drop E/F's panoramas from the remix; the product captures are the imagery.

Ranking

  1. D The only variant that passes the 5-second test and has a real email capture above the fold, with three working product moments (chain diagram, stand-down slider, dark phone-gone tile) on the shortest page in the set. Weaknesses are fixable in an hour: clipped captures leaking '15 minutes' and the firm name, duplicated pricing, and a bento shell that will never feel bespoke.
  2. A The live hold ring is the best single idea in the shotgun: a visitor uses the product before reading a word, and the receipts cascade is honest and on-voice. Loses to D because nothing above the fold is a real CTA, the hero does not say what ELA is, and the mobile demo panel traps vertical scroll.
  3. F The day-to-night-to-dawn film with real captures is the most distinctive top half here and the furthest from the live page; the tiers section is the clearest in the set. It ranks third because the 560vh pinned stage reads as a solid black wall in any static view, it is dark-heavy for a light-first brand, and the only real action is 10,000px down behind two fake buttons.
  4. B The flight-status board and the 'Queued is not sent' honesty law are genuinely ELA, and it is the most copy-compliant page. But it is 7,600px of tables, ships a blank receipt card, over-uses mono until claims look like telemetry, and the riddle headline plus no fold CTA make it a reader's page, not a scanner's.
  5. C The family-phone hero and the arriving-message thread are two strong moments, and the fail-safe copy is the most honest on auto-send. It falls apart on who it is talking to (he/him hero, they/them everywhere else, member 'you' in the night panel), the largest button is fake, and the lower half is icon-card template.
  6. E Typographically the most confident and least templated, but it is a magazine essay about ELA rather than a page that shows it: no product capture in the first two viewports, no CTA above the fold, price at 7-10k px, no mobile nav. It would need to become a different page to convert.

D · Bento

Short hero, then a nine-tile Apple-style bento grid where every tile is one real capability with its capture.

6.7
Bento desktop Bento mobile

Headline Three seconds. Then you're not alone.

Signature The wide "server-run chain" tile: an animated three-node dispatch diagram (firm / consulate / family) that draws its paths and lights each node in sequence with mono timestamps, sitting beside a working "I'm safe" stand-down slider you can actually drag to stop the example countdown.

founder 7conversion 7craft 6

Judges' must-fix (11)
  • Add an EXAMPLE label to the 'people who love you' tile (as the chain tile has) AND either crop/object-position case-live.png so the '15 minutes' line is out of frame or swap to a capture without a timing promise. Decide separately whether the 'Al Noor Legal Advocates' firm name may appear at all before launch; if not, swap case-live.png and active-case-dark.png for captures without it.
  • Replace 'Legal fees insured under ELA's group policy' (ladder) and 'for a covered case' (Shield bullet) with wording built only from the approved line: e.g. 'Legal fees met under ELA's group policy' / 'Legal-fee insurance included, underwritten by a regulated UAE insurer'. No 'insured', no 'covered'.
  • Drop the FIRST/THEN/IF NOT mono kickers in the failover tile; let 'Notified / Accepts / Finding another' carry it, or fold the sequence into the bold labels ('If not: finding another').
  • Fix row-3/row-4 clipping on desktop: either let .bento rows auto-size, or give t-link, t-watch and t-gone the same intentional bottom fade t-hold uses so cropped app captures look designed.
  • Stop the firm name reading as ELA's partner: crop the case-live.png capture above the 'Al Noor Legal Advocates' line (or mask it) in the family tile and the phone-gone tile.
  • Raise the initial opacity of chain nodes 2-4 to fully readable (animate only the connector/dot), so the three core events are never greyed in a static view.

The only variant that passes the 5-second test and has a real email capture above the fold, with three working product moments (chain diagram, stand-down slider, dark phone-gone tile) on the shortest page in the set. Weaknesses are fixable in an hour: clipped captures leaking '15 minutes' and the firm name, duplicated pricing, and a bento shell that will never feel bespoke.

A · Hold It

A real press-and-hold ring in the hero: hold three seconds, watch the dispatch receipts land.

6.7
Hold It desktop Hold It mobile

Headline You couldn't face it alone. You don't have to.

Signature The visitor uses the product before reading a word: a DOM/SVG hold ring (3.0s, mono countdown numerals, thump on complete, Space key + reduced-motion tap) arms a 0:06 demo countdown with a native range "I'm safe" slider; if they don't slide, three receipt cards cascade in with mono timestamps 14:02:11 firm notified, 14:02:12 consulate informed, 14:02:13 family link live. Releasing early resets the ring and says so; sliding shows "Stood down. Nothing was sent."

founder 7conversion 6craft 7

Judges' must-fix (14)
  • Shield card: replace 'The same response, with legal fees insured.' with the brief's verbatim sentence only, and change the bullet 'Legal fees met under ELA's group policy' to something like 'Legal fees paid under the group policy' (no 'ELA's', no 'insured' as a verb/adjective).
  • Set the 'Coming soon' chip in Instrument Sans (keep the pill), and make the wrist list third row a real mono timing or drop mono on 'later'.
  • Cut 'One less bill on the worst night' and 'No imagining the worst at 3 a.m.'; reword 'people who are paid to watch' to 'a human ops team that follows every case'.
  • Align the two example timelines to one clock (pick 02:11 or 14:02) so the demo and the how-it-works sequence describe the same example night.
  • Confirm 'Al Noor Legal Advocates' in case-receipt.png and case-live.png is a placeholder the founder is happy to show publicly on a single-firm launch page; if not, swap to active-case.png or a capture without a firm name.
  • Name the situation above the fold without an eyebrow: e.g. lede opens 'If you are arrested in the UAE, one three-second hold...' and/or wordmark carries 'Emergency Legal Assistance' in the nav, so a scanner knows what ELA is and who it is for in 5 seconds.

The live hold ring is the best single idea in the shotgun: a visitor uses the product before reading a word, and the receipts cascade is honest and on-voice. Loses to D because nothing above the fold is a real CTA, the hero does not say what ELA is, and the mobile demo panel traps vertical scroll.

F · Skyline Film

Dubai goes day to night to dawn behind a pinned phone that scrubs the whole response as you scroll.

6.3
Skyline Film desktop Skyline Film mobile

Headline For the night you hope never comes.

Signature A 560vh pinned stage: the real day panorama darkens into the night marina as the hold completes, the sticky iPhone crossfades through the actual mint captures (Protected → hold ring → countdown → active case → family link) by scroll position, five copy beats with mono server timestamps swap beside it, and the sky breaks into dawn exactly as the family link goes live. Light page bookends a contained dark world; the phone literally lights the night.

founder 7conversion 5craft 7

Judges' must-fix (11)
  • Move .ex disclaimers, .fact chips ('release to stop', 'same case, same team') and footer copyright out of Spline Mono into Instrument Sans; keep mono only on 02:11:xx timestamps, 0:23, 3s, and prices.
  • Replace .soon fallback #3a2b2b with a token (--night #0B1310 or --panel #111D17).
  • Re-capture or crop case-live.png so 'usually within 15 minutes' and the firm name are not on the marketing page (or swap beat 4 / Families to active-case.png + a neutral live-link capture).
  • Family Shield card: use the approved Shield insurance sentence verbatim ('Shield membership includes legal-fee insurance, underwritten by a regulated UAE insurer.') and put 'two adults, each full Shield' in the plain description line.
  • Make the hero action real: turn the 'Coming soon to iPhone & Apple Watch' badge into a link to #waitlist labelled 'Tell me at launch' (or drop the button styling entirely), and make the nav 'Coming soon' chip an <a href="#waitlist">. Right now the page has zero real CTAs above the fold and two fake ones.
  • Fix the mobile film bottom: the wrapped 'EXAMPLE timeline...' line collides with the pip row at 390px (see qa-f-stage-m-0.22 / -0.5). Raise .rail padding-bottom or shorten the EXAMPLE label so it never wraps; bump mono from 12px to at least 13px.

The day-to-night-to-dawn film with real captures is the most distinctive top half here and the furthest from the live page; the tiers section is the clearest in the set. It ranks third because the 560vh pinned stage reads as a solid black wall in any static view, it is dark-heavy for a light-first brand, and the only real action is 10,000px down behind two fake buttons.

B · The Ledger

A Swiss case ledger: mono facts rail beside light Bricolage statements, every hop shown as its true state.

6.3
The Ledger desktop The Ledger mobile

Headline Precision is the comfort.

Signature The hero flight-status board for case ELA-2026-EXAMPLE walks each row queued → sent → delivered → accepted one hop at a time, never skipping a state; that honesty law then becomes the H2 ("Queued is not sent. Sent is not delivered.") and a three-column ledger of what the member, the family link, and ops each see, including struck-through rows for what family is NOT shown.

founder 7conversion 5craft 7

Judges' must-fix (14)
  • Strip mono from anything that is not a timestamp, case ref, price, timer, state token or phone number: rail values that are claims ('Human ops team', 'Trained humans', 'Counts as yes', 'Identical', 'Every step seen') go to Instrument Sans; keep mono for 02:11:44, ELA-2026-EXAMPLE, 750, 3.0 s, queued/sent/delivered/accepted.
  • Add a watch figure (assets/watch-framed/holding-black.png or hold-committed-black.png) to the fail-safe section next to the 'Held from Apple Watch' row, with alt text and an 'Example screen' caption, so the wrist beat is shown, not just asserted.
  • Fix the blank server-receipt card: confirm case-receipt.png renders at 1440 and 390 (drop the inline-styled wrapper, use the existing .receipt figure rule, or remove loading=lazy on that one image) and re-shoot.
  • Put a real action above the fold: either move the email capture into the hero CTA row or make the badge not look like a button (plain text chip, no border/radius-12).
  • Verify the countdown numbers (27 s / 30 s) against the actual app countdown screen; if they are not product truth, replace with 'short countdown' and drop the 0:27 rail entries. Change the 'Case opened' board row final state from 'accepted' to 'compiled' or 'opened' so states match the legend.
  • Add a real primary CTA above the fold: 'Tell me at launch' button (jump to #capture or inline email field) in the hero-cta row, and a matching button in the sticky nav. Downgrade the 'COMING SOON iPhone & Apple Watch' badge so it does not read as a button (plain text or chip), or make it the link to #capture.

The flight-status board and the 'Queued is not sent' honesty law are genuinely ELA, and it is the most copy-compliant page. But it is 7,600px of tables, ships a blank receipt card, over-uses mono until claims look like telemetry, and the riddle headline plus no fold CTA make it a reader's page, not a scanner's.

C · The People Waiting

Warm-green family-first page: the sister's live link framed on a mantelpiece, milestones arriving as messages.

6.0
The People Waiting desktop The People Waiting mobile

Headline You'll know where he is. You'll know who's acting for him.

Signature The EXAMPLE timeline is rendered as a message thread on the trusted contact's phone: four mono-stamped milestones rise in one by one on scroll, then a single green reply bubble from the sister ("Opened it. I can see where he is. Calling Mum.") closes the beat. Every other section is told to the person waiting, not the member.

founder 7conversion 5craft 6

Judges' must-fix (14)
  • Pick one reader for the whole page (the person at home) and rewrite the night panel and capture lede in that voice; settle on they/them throughout including the hero h1.
  • Replace or anonymise the firm name in the hero capture: a capture where the firm line is generic, or the real launch partner's name with their sign-off. Not a placeholder firm in the hero.
  • Cut 'in a city that isn't yours' and collapse the checkpoint/complaint/language list to one clause; remove 'worst night of someone's life'. Keep the 'silence counts as a yes' paragraph, it does the work.
  • Snap panel radii to the 22px card token (or add 34 to the system explicitly), restyle 'Example timeline' as sentence-case Instrument Sans at 12px or larger, and keep mono strictly to the timestamp in the Maya note.
  • Hero CTA: turn the green badge into a real primary link to #capture labelled 'Tell me at launch' (or demote it to a plain text line) and make the nav 'Coming soon' chip link to #capture too. No element may look like a button and do nothing.
  • Say what ELA is in the h1 or a one-line subhead ('A membership for UAE residents: if someone you love is arrested, one hold sends their case to a vetted law firm and you a live link') and cut the lede to under 35 words.

The family-phone hero and the arriving-message thread are two strong moments, and the fail-safe copy is the most honest on auto-send. It falls apart on who it is talking to (he/him hero, they/them everywhere else, member 'you' in the night panel), the largest button is fake, and the lower half is icon-card template.

E · Editorial

A private-bank magazine: huge light Bricolage chapters, mono margin notes, two still vignettes, one drifting dawn.

6.0
Editorial desktop Editorial mobile

Headline A membership for the night you hope never comes.

Signature Chapters read like a longform feature with a sticky mono margin column: the EXAMPLE timeline lives in the margin beside two-column body copy, and the only motion on the page is a 60-second dawn-haze drift under the hero.

founder 7conversion 4craft 7

Judges' must-fix (14)
  • Set the non-server-fact margin terms ('1 link', '3 things', '1 firm', 'Every case') in Instrument Sans (or replace them with real server facts); keep mono only for timestamps, the 3 s hold, 0:27/0:00 countdown, case ref and prices.
  • Replace the uppercase tracked 'Example timeline' label with sentence-case body text (e.g. the existing 'EXAMPLE timeline. Actual timings vary by case.' moved to the top of the aside) so nothing on the page reads as a kicker.
  • Soften the 2:11 a.m. chapter so it opens on the member's one small job rather than on the threat: drop 'Your phone is about to be taken' and 'A complaint you never saw coming', keep the 'Three seconds. That's your whole job.' beat. Reword 'No imagining the worst at 3 a.m.' to something that does not name the worst.
  • Reword 'Everything else is ours now.' to something unambiguous ('Everything after that is our job.' or similar) and align the watch milestones to 'firm notified / firm accepted' vocabulary.
  • Put a real forest 'Tell me at launch' button in the hero actions row (jump to #launch or inline the email field) and a compact one in the nav; demote or remove the inert 'Coming soon to iPhone & Apple Watch' pill so nothing above the fold looks clickable but isn't.
  • Make the headline say what ELA is. Either lead with a plain line ('Emergency legal assistance for UAE residents, started by one three-second hold.') and keep 'the night you hope never comes' as the lede's hook, or at minimum add 'Emergency Legal Assistance' next to the ELA wordmark in the nav so the category is readable in 2 seconds.

Typographically the most confident and least templated, but it is a magazine essay about ELA rather than a page that shows it: no product capture in the first two viewports, no CTA above the fold, price at 7-10k px, no mobile nav. It would need to become a different page to convert.
